Up and running in three steps

Download & open
Mac: open the .dmg and drag Granular into Applications. Windows (beta): run the installer, we walk you through Windows' one-time warning as you download.

First launch
Mac: open Granular from Applications, the signed, notarized app opens straight away. Windows: open it from the Start menu.

Sign in & go
Connect your AI engine or add hosted AI, pick a folder, and start chatting.

Before you download

Granular for Windows works and is field-tested, but it's newer than the Mac app, so here's exactly what to expect.

  • Windows will warn you onceA blue “Windows protected your PC” box appears the first time you run it. Choose More info, then Run anyway. It isn't a virus warning, the beta isn't code-signed yet, so Windows doesn't recognise the publisher. Signing is on the way.
  • Updates are manual for nowGranular tells you when a new version is out and you run the installer again. Automatic updates arrive with signing.
  • Expect the occasional rough edgeIt's a beta and newer than the Mac build. Everything core works; tell us anything that doesn't.
  • Two optional extrasInstall Node.js if you want MCP connectors, and Git for Windows if you want the Git panel. Granular runs fine without either.
