Download Granular

Granular installs like any other Mac app. Get the latest build from the download page.

The download is a standard .dmg file (a disk image, the usual way Mac apps are delivered). Granular is free to start.

Install in three steps

  1. Open the .dmg you downloaded.
  2. Drag the Granular icon into your Applications folder.
  3. Open Granular from Applications (or search for it with Spotlight). The first time, macOS may ask you to confirm you want to open an app you downloaded. That is expected.
Tip: Granular is code-signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without security warnings on a normal Mac.

First run

Granular walks you through a short setup:

  1. Sign in or create an account. Type your email and Granular sends you a 6-digit code. There is no password. Prefer not to? Choose Continue without an account. Everything on your computer still works, and you can sign in later from Settings → Account. See Account and sign-in.
  2. Tell Granular a little about you. Your name and what you do.
  3. Connect an AI. Granular needs an AI model to do work. You can:
    • sign in with a Claude account you already pay for (Claude Pro or Max),
    • sign in with Codex (a paid ChatGPT plan) or add an API key,
    • or, if you have no AI subscription, start with free AI credits. No card needed.

Then you are ready for your first session.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Granular cost?
Granular is free to start. The Pro plan lifts the limits on projects, sessions and agents. The optional AI Add-on gives you hosted AI models. See Plans and pricing or the pricing page.
Is the download safe?
Yes. The macOS build is code-signed and notarized by Apple, and downloads come from the official release page.
Do I need to install Claude Code first?
No. Claude comes built into Granular, so there's nothing else to install for it. Sign in with your Claude Pro or Max plan during setup, or use free AI credits.
Do I need an account to use Granular?
No. Choose Continue without an account during setup and everything on your computer still works. You can sign in later from Settings → Account.
How do I update Granular?
Granular updates itself. It downloads a new version in the background, then shows Granular … is available. Click Restart now to update, or keep working and it installs the next time you quit. If it hasn't downloaded yet, click Update and Granular downloads it and restarts.
