Account and sign-in
Do you need a Granular account? It's optional. Sign in with an emailed code, no password, and your plan, AI credits and links follow you to any computer.

A Granular account is free and optional. It keeps your plan, AI credits, published links and creator profile together, so they follow you to any computer you sign in on.
Some things never go to your account. Your projects, Key Vault keys and connections always stay on the computer where you made them.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything that happens on your computer, like chatting with agents, terminals, your brain and the preview, works without one. A plan you've paid for never stops working just because you haven't signed in.
You'll need a free account for a few things:
- Free AI credits for new users with no AI subscription.
- Publishing pages and sharing live links. See Published links.
- Redeeming an unlock code. Granular asks you to sign in first, then carries on with the code you typed.
- Using your plan and credits on more than one computer.
Sign in or create an account
There is no password. Granular emails you a short code instead.
- Open Settings → Account. (New users see this as the first setup screen.)
- Type your email and click Email me a code.
- Check your email for a 6-digit code. It works for 10 minutes.
- Type the code into Granular. You're signed in.
Signing in for the first time creates your account.
- Didn't get the code? Check your spam folder, or click Send a new code.
- Typed the wrong address? Click Use a different email.
If you'd rather not sign in during setup, choose Continue without an account. You can sign in any time later from Settings → Account.
Staying signed in
You stay signed in. You only need a new code when you sign in on a computer, or if you haven't used Granular on that computer for 30 days.
Already a customer? Use the email you paid with
If you bought Granular before accounts existed, sign in with the email address you paid with. What you bought comes along:
- Anything already switched on on this computer is added to your account when you sign in.
- Purchases made on the website with the same email are added automatically, as long as no other account has added them first.
A purchase belongs to the first account that adds it, so signing in with the right email first matters. If you have two email addresses, see Move a purchase to another account.
If a purchase is added to an account with a different email from the one that paid, we send a short note to the paying email. If that wasn't you, reply to it.
After you sign in, Granular tells you what was added and plainly names anything it couldn't add, with what to do next. Anything that couldn't be added keeps working on the computer where it's switched on.
Your profile
When you sign up during setup, Granular asks for your first and last name, what you do, and an optional photo. To add or change them later, open Settings → Account and click Edit on your profile card.
If you're a marketplace creator, your creator profile lives on your account too. Edit your bio, photo and links from your card at the foot of the Library.
Email addresses on screen are partly hidden
So a screenshot or a shared screen doesn't show your full email address, Granular hides the middle of it. It keeps the first two letters, the last letter and the whole domain, so you can still tell your accounts apart. For example, hello@example.com shows as he•••o@example.com.
You'll see this:
- on your profile card in Settings → Account ("Signed in as …")
- next to an AI connection's name when you pick one in a chat
- next to an app's name when a chat shows which account an app action used, for example Gmail · wo•••k@example.com
On your profile card and in the connection picker, hold the pointer over the address to see it in full.
Billing works the same way. If a plan was paid for with a different email, it shows as paid with followed by a partly hidden address, such as o•••@example.com.
Using Granular on more than one computer
Sign in with the same email on each computer. Your plan, AI credits and published links appear there too.
A Pro or Lifetime purchase works on 2 of your computers at the same time. On a new computer, sign in and Granular offers to switch Pro on there. If it's already on 2 computers, you choose which one to switch off.
For adding, switching and removing computers, see Pro on multiple computers.
Signed-in computers
Settings → Account → Signed-in computers lists every computer signed in to your account, and when each was last used.
Lost a laptop, or signed in somewhere you shouldn't have?
- Click Sign out of all computers.
- Click Sign out everywhere to confirm.
Every computer, including this one, is signed out, and your plans are switched off on all of them. They stay yours: sign in again on the computers you still have to switch them back on. See Lost or stolen computer.
Signing out
- In Settings → Account, click Sign out on your profile card.
- Granular shows exactly what will turn off on this computer. Click Sign out to confirm.
Signing out takes your plans and links off this computer and frees its place for another computer. Sign back in any time to bring them back. Your projects and files are never touched.
If Granular can't reach the internet when you sign out, it offers Sign out and keep my plan here, so you're never left half signed out.
