Connect an app
How to connect Gmail, Slack, HubSpot and over 1,400 other apps to your AI agent in Granular, so it can read, write and act in them, with you in control.
Updated 2026-10-20
Connecting an app lets your agents use it: read your Gmail, post in Slack, update a HubSpot deal. You connect apps in Settings → Connectors → Discover apps, sign in to the app in your browser, and the app is then available in your chats with Claude, Codex and Gemini.
A connector is a link between Granular and another app or service. This article covers the apps in Discover apps. For other kinds of connectors, see Connectors.
Before you start
- Sign in to your Granular account. Connected apps need it. See Account and sign-in.
- An account with the app you want to connect, and for some apps an API key from that app (see Apps that ask for an API key).
There is nothing to install.
Find an app
- Click the Settings button (the gear icon).
- Click Connectors.
- Click the + Discover apps tab. It lists every app you haven't connected yet.
- Find the app:
- type its name in Search connectors…, or
- click a category: Popular, Email & chat, CRM & sales, Marketing, Projects & productivity, Docs & files, Developer, Data & analytics, AI, Finance & commerce or Other. Click the same category again to see every app.
- If the list is long, click Show more at the bottom.
Click a card to open its details: what the app is, how many actions it offers and How connecting works for that app.
Connect an app
- Click Connect on the app's card (or Connect followed by the app's name in its details).
- Your browser opens the app's sign-in page. The card shows Waiting for your browser….
- Sign in to the app and approve access.
- Go back to Granular. You don't need to click anything: the card updates by itself.
The sign-in page shows the name Composio. Composio is Granular's integration partner: it runs the sign-ins and the app actions for these apps. That is expected.
Apps that ask for an API key
Many apps don't use a browser sign-in. Their card says You’ll paste an API key. For these:
- Click Connect.
- On the secure page that opens, paste your API key for that app.
An API key is a long password that lets software use your account with another service. You'll usually find it in the app's own settings, under API or Developer.
Apps with no sign-in
A card that says No sign-in needed doesn't ask for an account or a key. Click Connect to switch it on.
Apps marked Coming soon
At the end of the categories is a quiet Coming soon link. These apps need a sign-in Granular can't offer yet, so they have no Connect button. They'll get one when they can be connected.
What you'll see
When the sign-in finishes:
- A note says "Gmail is connected. Your agents can use it in every chat." (with your app's name).
- A message pops up: "Gmail is now connected."
- The app moves to the Connected tab as its own card. Its name shows who it's signed in as when the app tells Granular, for example Gmail · you@example.com.
- A green check in the card's corner means it's connected. The bottom of the card says On in all chats.
The app's card also stays in Discover apps, now showing how many accounts are connected and an + Add account button. See Connector accounts.
Use it in a chat
Ask for what you want in plain words, for example "Find the last email from Sam and draft a reply". You don't need to name the tool.
Connected apps work the same with Claude, Codex and Gemini. Each step the agent takes shows in the chat as a card naming the app and the action, for example Gmail · Send email, with a tick when it worked.
New apps start with sensible limits: agents can read and write but not delete, and Granular asks you in the chat before anything is sent or deleted. See App permissions.
For how connectors appear in a chat, see Connectors in chat.
Change or undo it
Click a connected app's card to open its settings.
- Switch it off: turn off On (Make this account available to sessions), or the switch on its card. The app stays connected but no chat can use it. Turn it back on any time. The switch in a chat's Connectors menu is the same switch, so turning it off there turns it off everywhere.
- Reconnect: opens the app's sign-in page again. Use it if the app stops working, for example after you changed your password.
- Disconnect: removes the app from Granular. To use it again, connect it from Discover apps.
Limits
- You need to be signed in to your Granular account to connect or use these apps.
- Apps marked Coming soon can't be connected yet.
- Some apps exist both as one of Granular's own built-in connectors and in this catalog. Granular shows one card for them; see Built-in connectors.
Troubleshooting
If you see "Still waiting for Gmail. If you finished signing in, it will show up next time you open Connectors."
Granular stopped watching for the sign-in after a few minutes. If you finished signing in, close Settings and open Connectors again. If the app isn't there, click Connect again and finish the sign-in in your browser.
If the card is stuck on "Waiting for your browser…"
You may have closed the sign-in page. Click Cancel on the card, then Connect again.
If you see "Sign in to your Granular account (Settings → Account) to connect more apps." or "Sign in to your Granular account to use app integrations." You're signed out of Granular. Sign in from Settings → Account, then try again. See Account and sign-in.
If you see that Granular could not reach its servers
Check your internet connection, then try again.
If you see "App integrations are briefly unavailable. Try again in a moment."
Wait a minute and try again.
If the agent says an app "isn't connected in Granular"
The app was disconnected. Connect it again from Discover apps.
If the agent says an app "is switched off in Granular"
Open the app's card in Connectors and turn On back on.
If the agent says an app "isn't available in this project"
The account is limited to other projects. Open its card and change Available in. See Connector accounts.
If the agent can't use an app it used before
Open its card in Connectors, click Reconnect and sign in again.
