Connect Cursor
Use your Cursor account as a Granular chat engine through the Cursor CLI. Install it in one click, sign in with your Cursor account, and pick from Cursor's models.
Updated 2026-10-20
Granular can use your Cursor account as the engine behind a chat, through the official Cursor CLI (Cursor's command-line agent). You sign in with your Cursor account once, then pick from the models your account offers in the model button under the message box.
Before you start
- A Cursor account. Cursor's free plan works, with limited AI usage; paid Cursor plans raise the limits. Using Cursor in Granular counts against your Cursor plan, the same as using it in Cursor. See Cursor's pricing.
Set it up
- In the row of controls under the message box, click the button that shows your current connection's name.
- Click Add your AI agent.
- Under Coding agents, click Cursor. Its tag says Install, Sign in or Ready.
- If the Cursor CLI isn't installed yet, a panel says "Cursor CLI needs a one-time install". Click Install for me. The install runs in the chat's Terminal tool, and Granular carries on by itself once it's found.
- The panel Sign in to Cursor appears and Cursor's sign-in starts in the Terminal tool. When it's ready, a Finish signing in panel opens your browser on Cursor's sign-in page. Sign in with your Cursor account there. If the page didn't open, click Open sign-in page again. The panel updates by itself when you're done.
- A Cursor row appears in your Accounts list and the chat switches to it.
Once you have a Cursor account in Granular, the Cursor row no longer shows under Add your AI agent.
What you'll see
- The model button under the message box lists the models your Cursor account offers. You can search it and pin favourites. See Pick and pin models.
- Cursor can read, search and look things up on the web by itself. When it needs to run a command or change a file, it uses Granular's terminal and file tools, so you see every command in the Terminal tool and every change in the chat.
- Settings → AI accounts shows a Cursor card ("CLI on this computer").
Change or undo it
- Stop using it in a chat: pick another account from the connection button.
- Hide it: open Settings → AI accounts and click Hide from picker on Cursor's card. The Cursor CLI stays signed in; Granular just stops showing and using it.
- Sign out for good: run
cursor-agent logoutin a terminal. Granular doesn't store your Cursor sign-in itself.
Limits
- Counts against your Cursor plan. If your plan runs out or doesn't include a model, Cursor refuses and Granular tells you.
- Cursor's own command and edit tools are refused. Granular keeps every command and change in view, for every engine.
- New. Cursor support is new in 0.6.0. Full replies from a signed-in Cursor account haven't been through Granular's complete testing yet. If something looks wrong, switch the chat to another account.
- On Windows, the install uses PowerShell.
Troubleshooting
If Granular says Cursor isn't signed in on this computer
The Cursor CLI's sign-in on this computer has ended, so Cursor can't answer. Switch the chat to another account from the connection button for now.
If you see "Your Cursor plan has run out of usage for this, or doesn't include it"
Check your plan and usage at cursor.com/dashboard, or pick another model.
If you see "Cursor is rate-limiting this account"
Wait a minute and send your message again.
If you see "This version of the Cursor CLI doesn't understand how Granular starts it"
Run agent update in the terminal, then try again.
If the install finished but Granular can't see the Cursor CLI
Click I've installed it - check again in the install panel. If that doesn't find it, quit Granular completely and open it again.
