Preview comments

In short

Pin feedback straight onto a page in Preview, collect it in one panel, and send it all to the chat as one batch, with a screenshot of each spot.

Comments let you pin feedback straight onto a page in Preview: click the spot, type what should change, and move on. When you're done, send every open comment to the chat in one go, each with a screenshot of the spot, and the agent works through them.

Before you start

  • A page open in Preview: a file from your project, a local server the agent started, or a web page.
  • A chat to send to. Comments go to the chat the Preview belongs to.

Add a comment

  1. In Preview, click the Comments button in the toolbar (a speech bubble, with a count of open comments). Or press C.
  2. The Comments panel opens beside the page and says "Click the page to add a comment.".
  3. Click the spot on the page you want to change. A numbered pin appears there.
  4. Type your note in the box ("What should change?"). Press Shift+Enter for a new line.
  5. Click Save, or press Enter.

Add as many as you like. Each one gets the next number.

Review your comments

The panel lists your comments as cards. Click a card to jump to its pin.

  • This page and All pages switch between comments on the page you're looking at and every comment in the project.
  • Open, Sent, Done and All filter by status. A new comment is Open.
  • Each card's ⋯ menu has Edit, Mark done (or Re-open), Don't send image (or Send image) and Delete.

Keys while the panel has focus:

[ and ]Move to the previous or next pin
DMark the selected comment done
EscClose the panel

Send them to the chat

  1. At the bottom of the panel, click Send … to chat. The button counts the open comments it will send.
  2. The comments go into the chat's queue as one message, each with a screenshot of its spot (unless you turned the picture off for that comment).
  3. Their status changes to Sent. As the agent finishes each one, it marks it Done.

If the agent is busy, the batch waits in the chat's queue and runs next. While it waits, you can still edit it there, like any queued message.

Comments on the canvas

On the Preview canvas, the Comments button sits beside the canvas button and works the same way. The panel says "Click a live frame to add a comment.", and its tabs read This frame and All frames.

Change or undo it

  • Edit a comment: its card's ⋯, then Edit.
  • Leave out the screenshot: ⋯, then Don't send image. Choose Send image to put it back.
  • Mark it done yourself: ⋯, then Mark done, or select it and press D. Re-open brings it back to Open.
  • Delete it: ⋯, then Delete. A note says "Comment N deleted." with Undo for a moment, in case you didn't mean to.

Limits

  • Comments belong to the project. They're saved inside your project folder, in granular-work/comments, with their screenshots. Anyone who opens the project folder can see them.
  • One send, one chat. A batch goes to the chat that the Preview belongs to.
  • Only open comments are sent. Sent and done ones stay in the panel but aren't sent again.

Troubleshooting

If the send button is greyed out
There are no open comments in the current view. Check the Open filter, or switch to All pages.

If you see "No open comments to send."
Every comment in view is already sent or done. Re-open one if you want to send it again.

If you see "comments could not reach the chat"
Open the chat and try again.

If you see "screenshots were unavailable"
The comments were sent without some pictures. The notes and pin positions still went through.

Questions

Can I leave feedback on a page for the agent?
Yes. Open the Comments panel in Preview, click the spot and type what should change. Then send them all to the chat.
Does the agent get a screenshot?
Yes, one per comment, unless you choose Don't send image on that comment.
Can I comment on a web page that isn't mine?
Yes, on any page open in Preview. The agent gets your notes and screenshots; what it can change depends on the page.
Where are comments saved?
In your project folder, under granular-work/comments.
Can I comment on several pages and send them together?
Yes. Switch to All pages and send. Every open comment in view goes in one batch.
